Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces the release of beta versions of the company’s new range of corporate products

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces the release of beta versions of the company’s new range of corporate products. Kaspersky Open Space Security now includes Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 8.0, Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Server 8.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Second Opinion Solution 8.0.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 8.0 provides comprehensive protection for workstations running under Windows from all types of contemporary cyber threats, including spam and hacker attacks. Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0 is a user-friendly solution for developing and managing the antivirus protection system of an enterprise of any size or geographical distribution.

At the heart of the new generation of products is Kaspersky Lab’s new antivirus engine which is even more effective at detecting malicious programs than its predecessor. The new engine dramatically increases system scanning speed thanks to improved processing of objects and optimized use of system resources, particularly on dual- and quad-core processor platforms. The unique product architecture ensures high productivity and one of the lowest uses of system resources in the industry.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 8.0 also integrates a new heuristic analyzer which allows unknown malware to be detected and blocked more effectively. If the signature of a malicious program is not included in the antivirus databases, the heuristic analyzer will imitate its launch in an isolated virtual environment. This absolutely secure method makes it possible to analyze all the actions performed by the program and conclude with a high degree of probability whether it is potentially harmful before it is launched in a live environment.

The new Access Control component provides control over user access to web resources and external devices. The component consists of two modules – Web Control and Device Control. The Web Control module provides restricted access to internet resources. At the same time a system administrator can control access to specific web sites and block downloads of content according to the extension, e.g., .mp3 files. The Device Control module controls users’ operations with external I/O devices and allows administrators to restrict access to external USB media, multimedia devices and other storage devices.

In addition, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations 8.0 includes a new user interface developed to meet the needs of administrators of both small networks and large corporations. Considerable modifications were also made to the firewall (increased component effectiveness and support for IPv6) and proactive protection (extended list of monitored activities and possible operations).

New versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Server and Kaspersky Anti-Virus Second Opinion Solution are also based on the new antivirus engine and include the highly effective heuristic analyzer. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Second Opinion Solution 8.0 provides centralized control of all Windows workstations on a corporate network without conflicting with the antivirus software of other vendors installed on the network.

The latest version of Kaspersky Administration Kit contains a number of modifications which enable easy management of a company’s antivirus protection system. This application provides centralized administration for networks of any size up to tens of thousands of nodes, extending to remote access and laptop users. Among the modifications are a simplified mode for installing the administration system as well as the antivirus applications on nodes throughout the corporate network, a revamped interface, a new dashboard system, a new mechanism for collecting detailed data about applications installed on clients’ computers and an option for SNMP monitoring of a corporate network’s main antivirus protection parameters. Support for Microsoft NAP and Cisco® NAC (Network Admission Control) technologies provides additional protection for local corporate networks and establishes the antivirus protection status of a computer that reconnects to the network (e.g., when a laptop is returned to the office after a business trip).

The new Kaspersky Lab applications for protecting workstations were developed in line with system requirements for Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. The server applications (Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Server and Kaspersky Administration Kit) support a range of server operating systems: Windows Server 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
