Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 a solution which provides spam protection for corporate mail systems and public email services, has successfully passed certification tests held by respected American laboratory ICSA Labs. Based on the results of the tests Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 was recognized as ICSA Labs Certified.
The goal of ICSA Labs’ anti-spam product testing and certification is to evaluate product effectiveness in detecting spam. To be recognized as ICSA Labs Certified the anti-spam solution must completely satisfy the necessary requirements of effectively detecting 95% of spam with a 1 in 100,000 false positive rate. Only six products from different vendors, including Kaspersky Anti-Spam, successfully passed the first round of testing.
The requirements for the testing are based on a new anti-spam testing and certification program that was developed with the participation of the independent consortium of anti-spam vendors: the Anti-Spam Product Developers’ Consortium. The Consortium was created under the aegis of the world famous ICSA Labs, which sets standards and certifies information security products. The goal of the Consortium is to work out objective standards to evaluate the products’ effectiveness, to exchange knowledge among antivirus developers and to provide a third-party information source to help the anti-spam user community to effectively defend against spam. As one of the cofounders of the Consortium, Kaspersky Lab actively participates in the development of anti-Spam Certification criteria.
“Today anti-spam solutions have become an integral and vital element of a comprehensive protection against internet threats. That’s why common criteria and standards for estimating the quality of anti-spam solutions are becoming increasingly important for the entire IT threats-protection industry and our end-users” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab.
“I am glad to state that the Consortium succeeded in developing a comprehensive set of impartial criteria for testing anti-spam products, and our solution Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 passed all of the certification tests, based on these criteria, with honor”.
