Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 has received top marks in a series of tests conducted by one of the most respected independent antivirus labs, AV-Test.org.
More than 30 personal and corporate products from various global antivirus vendors participated in a series of tests conducted by AV-Test.org in August through September 2008. A collection containing over 1.1 million malicious programs detected on the internet in the three previous months was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the antivirus solutions in detecting malicious and unwanted products. Additionally, over 95,000 unwanted programs containing spyware and adware were included in the test collection. The computer used for testing was loaded with the Windows XP SP3 operating system.
Overall, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 achieved the best test results, scoring the highest number of points in the categories “On-demand malware detection”, “On-demand spyware and adware detection” and “Response times to new threats”.
According to AV-Test.org, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 achieved a 98.4% malware detection rate, while demonstrating an equally impressive 98.3% detection rate for spyware and adware. The results achieved by the Kaspersky Lab solution surpassed those of other products from such vendors as TrendMicro, McAfee, Eset, Dr. Web, Panda, and many others. In addition, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 demonstrated the fastest response time to new threats – on average a malicious program was added to Kaspersky Lab databases in less than two hours.
