Kaspersky Virtualization Security supports VMware vShield™ Endpoint as research reveals a fifth of companies fail to secure virtual environments
Today at VMworld® 2011 Europe, Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions will be unveiling its security prototype for virtual environments: Kaspersky Virtualization Security for VMware vShield™. The new solution will provide comprehensive anti-malware protection for virtual machines without compromising host consolidation ratios.
Recent research* suggests that while up to half of IT organisations will have installed virtual servers within the next 12 months, less than a fifth will have done anything about their security. With 70,000 new malware samples identified every day by Kaspersky Lab security experts, introducing virtual IT infrastructures without adequate security stand to open up significant new vulnerabilities, leaving businesses exposed to damage and valuable data loss.
The partnership of Kaspersky Lab’s anti-malware expertise and VMware vShield Endpoint will help to address these risks, bringing significant benefits to Kaspersky Lab and VMware customers.
VMware vShield Endpoint™ streamlines and accelerates anti-virus and anti-malware processing. It improves performance and enables comprehensive security by eliminating the need for agents in every virtual machine. In addition, the solution optimises resource utilisation by offloading anti-virus processing to a single security virtual machine, delivered by Kaspersky Lab.
“Unveiling the Kaspersky Virtualization Security for VMware vShield™ prototype for virtualisation at VMworld® 2011 Europe will enable customers to securely maintain state-of-the-art, multi-layered anti-malware strategies across virtual environments and heterogeneous IT infrastructures, with a level of performance and total cost of protection that truly meets their business needs,” said Nikolay Grebennikov, Chief Technology Officer, Kaspersky Lab. “We very much look forward to comments and feedback from the IT professionals on our specific approach to securing their virtualised environments.”
“As a leading provider of high-performance endpoint security solutions, VMware is committed to working closely with Kaspersky to protect the rapidly growing number of virtualised environments. We are collaborating with Kaspersky Lab to deliver an integrated solution to secure and enhance the performance and protection of our mutual clients,” said Parag Patel, Vice President, Global Strategic Alliances, VMware.
Dan Franklin, VP Technology Alliances Business Development from Kaspersky Lab will be attending VMworld 2011 Europe, taking place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen 18 to 20 October, and he will be available for interview to discuss Kaspersky Lab’s approach to securing virtualised environments.
