Kaspersky Lab today announced that its security solutions, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business both led the way in the Bi-Monthly Certification September-October 2013 testing conducted by the independent AV-TEST laboratory.
To test the participants' ability to combat online threats, the AV-TEST experts used two sets of malicious software that collectively exceeded 20,000 samples. The most dangerous of these were 135 carefully selected threats that, because they were not particularly widespread, best demonstrated the protective abilities of the security solutions.
The test results show that Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 was the best security solution for home computers. The product passed all the tests and was the only one of the 25 participating solutions to score the maximum possible 18 points. The software detected all the malware samples prepared by the organisers without any false positives or any negative effect on the computer’s performance.
In the category for corporate users, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business was the top performer, scoring 17.5 out of a possible 18 points. This solution scored top marks in tests designed to demonstrate the ability of the product to detect cyber attacks and prevent false positives.
All tests were conducted on computers running 32-bit Windows XP SP3. Although three Windows generations have been released since Windows XP first appeared, this OS is still popular with both home users and businesses.
“Security solution developers often have to make compromises between the quality of threat detection and the need to maintain computer performance. However, Kaspersky Lab products provide high-level protection without slowing down the computer, even on an outdated OS such as Windows XP. The latest results from AV-TEST confirm this,” said Nikita Shvetsov, Deputy CTO (Research) at Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Lab security solutions are regular winners in tests conducted by independent antivirus laboratories. According to the results of the Dennis Technology Labs quarterly testing performed in between July and September 2013, Kaspersky Internet Security was the best protection product for home users. In August, SC Magazine named Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business its “Best Buy” among solutions for the corporate market.
