Kaspersky Lab today released for testing a beta version of Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise Edition, which protects servers against malicious programs that damage operations and data stored on the file server.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, today released for testing a beta version of Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise Edition, which protects servers against malicious programs that damage operations and data stored on the file server.

One of the main features of Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise Edition is the capability to provide constant anti-virus protection, as well as execute on-demand file scanning. If a virus threat on the network is detected, the user’s name and PC are identified and access to the server's file system is blocked.

Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise Edition also includes the capability to scan and cleanse Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express mail databases; and protects against viruses downloaded from infected websites. All suspicious objects are quarantined and back-up copies of the original files are saved in a designated area.

The product can be installed remotely, without the need a local administrator, and registration via Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 is conducted automatically. Scanning for viruses on critical areas of the server is conducted before installation. Furthermore, it is possible to install and adjust the product’s settings concurrently on several servers using Microsoft group policies.

The antivirus database can be installed via the Kaspersky Lab update servers, as well as from updates stored on the local network.

When the server is handling heavy traffic, Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise Edition adjusts itself accordingly, so that the system always runs at an acceptable and productive level.

Administration of Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise couldn’t be simpler – it can be carried out using Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0, the Microsoft Management Console (MMC); and it can also be administered remotely.

Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 for File Servers Enterprise is capable of running on Citrix and Microsoft Terminal servers.
