Kaspersky Lab strikes strategic alliance with Clavister

13 March 2007

Kaspersky Lab has signed a long-term strategic deal with Clavister, which develops IP-based security solutions.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, has signed a long-term strategic deal with Clavister, a Swedish company which develops IP-based security solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Kaspersky Lab will integrate its Kaspersky® SafeStream technology in to Clavister Security Gateway.

Clavister has increased the security protection offered by its Clavister Security Gateway product by integrating Kaspersky Lab’s SafeStream technology in to its anti-virus module. The module was designed in collaboration with Kaspersky Lab, which is renowned for its speed at delivering signature updates for protection against viruses, Trojans, worms and other malicious code.

“Companies and organisations are facing a threat landscape that is changing on a daily basis. Threats are increasing not just in number, but also in their sophistication, and today’s ever-more complex networks only compound the problem. It is imperative that our offering features the most comprehensive and effective anti-virus module available – which made our partnership with Kaspersky a natural one,” says Peter Johansson, CEO, Clavister.

”Clavister's virus protection is based on stream technology, which means files are matched against Kaspersky® SafeStream solution as they are downloaded. This ensures network delays caused by scanning are minimised, as the file does not need to be pre-stored before being examined for malicious code. This even applies to very large files, and there is no upper limit to the number of simultaneous downloads”, says John Vestberg, CTO, Clavister.

The Clavister Security Gateway is a unified threat management (UTM) product that integrates a firewall, VPN, intrusion protection, anti-virus, content filtering, traffic management, authorization, etc., in to a common hardware platform. Clavister?s product family provides security solutions for organisations of every size, from SMEs to powerful, clustered, multi-gigabit systems for network operators. The products require minimal maintenance; and feature centralised administration and extremely flexible configuration options.

“The integration of Kaspersky SafeStream in to Clavister Security Gateway will make an already excellent security product an even better one. Unlike traditional file-based anti-virus solutions, Kaspersky SafeStream makes it possible to protect the networks and data at wire speed at the stream level. Irrespective of their size, any company using Clavister Security Gateway will enjoy high-speed malware scanning”, comments Vitaly Bezrodnykh, Business Development Director, Kaspersky Lab.
